Hi all,

Anyone have an inkling of when we might get 8.2.05 on-prem release? I was told by end of year 2018, but that has come and gone. I'm fine with them holding off if it means they're fixing the 72K bugs we tend to find when upgrading. Just curious as to why we haven't seen it yet.

Thanks!

All I've heard is first quarter, with a remote possibly of late Jan.

Okay, thanks guys. Appreciate the responses. My guess is it'll be delayed til right before Summit, but that's me. Again, no big deal. Just was curious, since we are hoping to move to that version next. Thanks all!

Well, the end of January thing didn't happen. We're now going on March. Would love to get our team moving out of the 8.2.02M GA (beta) release soon, but no sign of any updates from IBI on release date plans for 8.2.05 on-prem (the one that matters) yet...

Chuck,

Thanks! Really appreciate you doing that. I've also opened a case in hopes that it might help.

I think that's right. Then they have it there for Bragging Rights.

I'm optimistically hoping that the 'Developer' tool will do all that App Studio can do, as InfoAssist isn't there yet Frowner.

Don't hold me to this as I am just the messenger. If all goes well in final testing 8.2.05 is expected to be released the end of next week.

Nice. We've already downloaded the bits, so if it does disappear, too late. haha

The case worker said an announcement email should be going out shortly though.

I got my email from IBI yesterday.

Unfortunately, the powers-that-be here won't let us use it. We are in the middle of testing with 8.2.03. My vote is to install 8.2.05M and restart testing. My management isn't very technical and set a hard deadline (totally artificial) to roll out 8.2.03 from our current 8.1.05M.

I will install it in our sandbox and see if it breaks any of our 8.2.03 code.

Ouch. That's no fun. Sorry man. They are literally losing $$ and time by forcing 8.2.03 on you guys when 8.2.05 is now out. Tell them someone who knows his -choose your word- (years of hard learned lessons of this) says to listen to you and move to 8.2.05 instead. It is WELL worth the change in plans. Modern companies should be adaptable to change anyways if they want to succeed.

8.0.xx through 8.2.04 == beta product.

I think I read somewhere that this version of 8205 is for new applications only.

Oh, that's right... IBI never accommodates existing customers out of the gate of a new release like every other company in existence. I've been sleeping and forgot that. Thanks Babak!

Mike, never mind! Stick with 8.2.03 then. Sorry. LOL

Our company was going to give 8.2.05 a shot and see if it was finally up to snuff, but now with this info, never mind. I guess we can't. We're already considering migrating to Power BI. We've already began moving our company code base to Azure Repos from TFS, and will hook up to our Dynamics 365 data from Power BI for reporting, visualizations, etc. in time is my guess.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Yes - the 'new applications only' statement from IBI was hard to decipher. Does that mean that it will break all your legacy (8.2.03 and prior??) code.

The existing code in the language will work fine. There are new features in 8205 that require migration. The utility for that migration might not be available in the first release.

True, the migration tool may not be available yet. I know that has been a sticking point for the 8.2.05 release to current customers. I will wait until the migration tool is ready.

Your other option is to CM export/import and hope it works.

That would be interesting to try. Once we finish our 8.2.03 upgrade from 8.1.05M, I plan to load 8.2.05 onto my sandbox and try to CM our 8.2.03 into it.

Can we still Copy&Paste between environments in App Studio if we go to 8205, instead of using the migration tool (if that's the only issue)?
