[Solved] Subtotal and Grand Total in WebFOCUS Developer Studio
Can anyone tell me how to display subtotals and a Grand Total of a column, without displaying the data in the column being totaled? If Possible could you tell me how to do this using WebFOCUS Developer Studio.

Hope you can help, thank you.

Do you have to display the detail of other columns?

Hi Ginny

Yes, I do for example I am getting something like this:

region cntPeople names addresses
ne 555 Joe Somewhere
John Somewhereelse
Subtotal 555

se 333 Jane Nowhere
Sue Where

Subtotal 333

Grand Total 888

I want to eliminate the extra count value displayed by the first entry in each group.

Thanks.

Sorry, it did not keep the spacing in my sample and I don't know how to force it too.

In my count column the first entry in each group has the same count as the Subtotal and I don't want to display it. In fact since the initial count in each group is the only value displayed I would like to eliminate the column completely

Here is a way. There are many others.
TABLE FILE EMPLOYEE
PRINT LAST_NAME FIRST_NAME
COMPUTE EMP_CNT/I6=IF DEPARTMENT NE LAST DEPARTMENT THEN 1 ELSE
IF LAST_NAME NE LAST LAST_NAME THEN 1 ELSE EMP_CNT+1; NOPRINT
BY DEPARTMENT
BY EMP_ID NOPRINT
ON DEPARTMENT SUBFOOT
"TOTAL EMPLOYEES FOR <DEPARTMENT <ST.EMP_CNT"
ON TABLE SUBFOOT
"TOTAL EMPLOYEES <ST.EMP_CNT"
END

Thank you for the information!

However, can you tell me if there is any way to accomplish this using the GUI interface in Developer Studio instead of modifying the code directly?

Thanks,
Darrell

I don't think there is anything in that code that can't be done with the GUI. Why don't you try to reproduce my sample with the Report Painter?
