HI, WHEN I DOWNLOAD A MONTH AGO THE BETA VERSION OF THE NEW INTERNET EXPLORER 7 AND WHEN I OPEN UP MY DASHBOARD. IT POPPED UP AN ERROR THAT IT SAYS IT DOES NOT SUPPORT INTERNET EXPLORER 7...I KNOW THE FINAL VERSION OF INTERNET EXPLORER HAS BEEN RELEASED AND WASNT SURE IF THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED OR IF THERE IS ANY SPECIAL CODE THAT I NEED TO KNOW TO AVOID ANY TYPE OF ERROR. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.
Here's a support email they sent out earlier this week:
This advisory is applicable to the WebFOCUS Business Intelligence Dashboard.
Microsoft has announced the official release of Internet Explorer 7 is now available. As noted on Microsoft's TechNet website in the article entitled, 'Internet Explorer 7 will be delivered through Automatic Updates' at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/updatemanagement/windo...e7announcement.mspx, Microsoft will also be distributing Internet Explorer 7 as a high-priority update via Automatic Updates and the Windows Update and Microsoft Update sites.
Customers using the Business Intelligence Dashboard who choose to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7.0 will need to download the appropriate Hotfix for the following WebFOCUS Release/Service Pack Levels:
- 7.1 Service Pack 4 - 7.1 Service Pack 3 - 7.1 Service Pack 1
- 5.3 Service Packs 3 to 6 - 5.2 Service Packs 3 to 8
From the tiny bit that I know of Internet Explorer, many corporate applications will have problems, so most client will not be jumping into IE7 right away.
I would like WebFOCUS (particularly MRE and Dashboard) to be compatible with Firefox, which, as far as I recall, is not.

I have used the command prompt and cd directory into the ibi\webfocus71 folder and type the command "jar -xvf 714IE7.jar" and it didnt work. Is there another way to get the file to be excuted? Let me know.
Hi Chris, Is there an error of some kind? The jar command requires a Java SDK (Developers Kit) in the CLASSPATH. To check the CLASSPATH, enter PATH at the command line. Verify you have something like C:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\bin Hope this helps. Regards, Rich

chris, here's the response i got from ibi when i had exactly the same problem "The error is caused by the jar file not being in the System Environmental variable PATH.
The jar command did then work from my temp dir within the command box" The case number is 22082094, in case you open a case you can get your case worker to refer tothat number.

The PATH info is whats set for the machine. Right click on "My Computer", select Properties -> Advanced -> Environment variables. In order to run some Java commands you need the Sun Java System Developers Kit (SDK). What you need in the PATH is the path to the software like n:\j2sdk1.4.2_10. If you don't have it installed, then go to sun's site and download and install it.

At this point, after adding the JDK to the PATH and it's still not working for you, I would open a call with IBI and let them have a look. Get some screen prints of the PATH command, java -fullversion, and a screen print of the jar command
