I have a file that runs daily - the client now wants to have a portion of the records set aside on a daily basis and sent to her monthly. I thought I could do this using APPEND and have each day's records append to a file and then schedule an RC job to send her the file monthly. I am having no luck with APPEND - each time I run the fex, the only data in my file is for that latest run. I have researched here on Focal Point and on IBI's Tech site and I'm not seeing what I'm doing wrong. I have tried different HOLD file formats and that didn't make a difference. Here is my APPEND code:
FILEDEF SBTEST DISK SBTEST.FOC FILEDEF SBTEST DISK SBTEST.FOC (APPEND -RUN TABLE FILE SBITEE10 PRINT CHANGE_TMSTMP BTN_NEW AS 'BTN' CUST_ACCT_TYPE FOR_SPKG_IND ON TABLE HOLD AS SBTEST END TABLE FILE SBTEST PRINT CHANGE_TMSTMP BTN CUST_ACCT_TYPE FOR_SPKG_IND ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K END
Can anyone see what I'm missing??
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. simbaThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,

.FOC is not valid for (APPEND and it is not the output file type for ON TABLE HOLD AS.
Try this instead:
FILEDEF SBTEST DISK SBTEST.TXT (APPEND
-RUN
TABLE FILE SBITEE10
PRINT
CHANGE_TMSTMP
BTN_NEW AS 'BTN'
CUST_ACCT_TYPE
FOR_SPKG_IND
ON TABLE HOLD AS SBTEST FORMAT ALPHA
END
-RUN
Don't forget to delete the file every time the month changes or you will have the previous month's transactions in your report.

If you need to keep the FOCus file, you will have to use MODIFY or MAINTAIN or recreated the FOC file by combining the existing data and new with table requests, then HOLD AS ... FORMAT FOCUS ...

Thanks Frank!!
I have it working now.
Waz -- thanks for your response. I didn't have to have the file be in FOCUS -- that was the latest file format I tried.
