Has anyone experience in triggering the execution of a ReportCaster schedule by the occurrance of an event in an Oracle or MS/SQL-Server database? How about on a database running on a different networked server than the one hosting RCaster and other WebFOCUS components?
This will, I presume, require the SQL database to prepare and send some kind of 'report' to one of the IBI products. I also suspect that the 'report' itself won't be a formatted tabulation of data but a one-line text message routed to an appropriate IBI application. When the IBI software receives it, it interpretes it as a command to run the RCaster schedule 'now' (or at a coded time in the instant future).

See Chapter 7, ReportCaster Alerts in the Managed Reporting Developer's Manual 7.1.3 (DN4500689.0206). Prior to version 7.1.3, see Chapter 12, ReportCaster Alerts Administration in the Managed Reporting Administrator’s Manual.
You can also explicitly change the value of NEXTRUNTIME for the job in BOTSCHED to say, 10 minutes ago. This will cause the report to run. We use this method to test whether data is ready to be distributed yet.
