[CLOSED] URL Request...
Hi guys,

I'm working on WF8105 right now and I have a very simple task - to add a hyperlink to this page on App Studio HTML Composer. Very easy, I create the hyperlink, then I create a Request... and that's where I'm stuck. Because, the idiot URL Request wants an http:// address. The link I need to use is an html file on the LAN so the address I got from them is a \\\... address.

URL Request... won't let me enter that URL. So, am I supposed to use another method to get that URL in? I tried the External Request one but it only lets me pick from within the app and its associated paths.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,
Anatess

Of course it doesn't, that is not a valid URL.

You may get it to work in Internet Explorer by prepending it with file:\\ (The 3rd backslash in your example refers to the top-level on the remote file system), but not in other browsers as they consider it a security hole - probably for a very good reason.

Another option is to add the server under a (virtual) directory in your web-server, after which you can reference files in it like local URLs.

I apologize. There are only 2 backslashes on that server name. And the AD authorization is specific to that path that contains the one html file that they gave me. Unfortunately, I don't own the thing. I only reference it. We did an ibif_ex="\\....\htmfile.htm" on it in the request tag with a sourcetype="typeUrl" and it works fine in chrome, firefox, or ie when we were still in WF7.7.

I'm trying to be a good girl and exclusively use the Composer instead of coding the thing in notepad.

If it used to work in WF 7 and doesn't in the version you are currently working on, please open a case with techsupport to get proper assistance with this.
