I use a CMD NET USE to temporarily gain access to another server -*[d] now copy to production CMD NET USE \\servername\apps /USER:networkdomain\uid pw -RUN -* then you can just copy the file you want into your current agent, process it, and it will vanish when your job is done CMD COPY \\servername\apps\appname\filename filename /Y
or..you can assign a drive letter with your NET USE command and then filedef it as normal

Thank you dhagen and susannah for your replies and all who took a peek.
I'm trying Susannah's approach. We need to read 1 file and only for a few months as we migrate from WF7 to WF8. With her instructions, I am getting reportage.
This is not a solution offered up by IBI.
I am interested why I can't allocate the WF7 file directly from the WF8 Reporting server? The WF7 file is temporarily open to all with Full Control.
you could if you mapped it with a letter. google up the NET USE command and see what your options are. Or, you could just RDP into the server itself and map a drive permanently for the other server. I just like the NET USE and COPY. its clean and leaves nothing behind...
