I would like to be able to create a report 3 columns wide (side by side) with multiple fields one over the other in each column:

COLUMN 1.........COLUMN 2...........COLUMN 3

ID: 32443........Lang: E...........Desc: bla
Name: Ken........Age: 89...........bla bla bla
City: Montreal...Sex: M............bla bla bla
Add: 5667 Smith....................bla bla bla
----------------------------------------------
ID: 56634........Lang: E...........Desc: bla
Name: Will.......Age: 78...........bla bla bla
City: Toronto....Sex: M............bla bla bla
Add: 675 Roy Av....................bla bla bla

...

you get the picture.

You know, like if I want to use WebFocus to print invoices or letters with fields coming from a database.

I tried to play with SUBFOOT and SUBHEADS, ACROSS but it doesn't really work.

Is there a way to do that?

try using the OVER command.
It would go something like this
SUM ID LANGUAGE DESC
OVER NAME AGE
OVER CITY SEX
OVER ADDRESS ...
BY PERSON

Thanks susannah! I did'nt know I could print a bunch of fields between OVER statements! I should be able to do want I want.

There is always a solution...

the layout here is silly, but you'll get the idea
OVER should really be able to do it for you.

To line things up you can use IN to position to a specific column. And NOPRINT on the BY if you don't want it on the report.
