You can not install WebFocus on a database.

A database has to be installed in a file system.

I really have problems understanding what you actually want to do.

Indeed, please clarify a bit on what you are asking.
Could it be that you would like to install webfocus on the same disk where the database resides?
So in stead of installing it on the c: disk you'd like to install it on the D: disk? If that is the actual question, then yes, of course you can do that. Otherwise, please clarify.

What i meant was like...
When webFocus is installed, it will create html/XML files to store its own metadata (Users, Domains, Groups, Views & Etc.). But i want to install webFocus so that it will use Database for storing those information.

Thanks,
- Hawk.

JG, so the fact that a database can be used instead of the HTML-based system is only described in the security document?

I had a very hard time finding any information on this - I tried searching for "MRE database" and other variations on Tech Support, the Tech Doc Library and through Enterprise Content Library but couldn't find anything helpful.

I did recently receive an email from IBI mentioning that an open source database will be distributed with a new version of WebFOCUS but I cannot find that email.

Thanks for pointing us to the Security document. I cannot seem to find the exact area where the use of a database is described. Is it the "Managed Reporting Realm Driver"?

For 7.6.1 and above look at chapter 8 (doc ref DN4500790.0408 although there may be a newer one)

Specifically the section Configuring Managed Reporting Administered RDBMS Authorization

for 5.3 yes, that's the place, chapter 12, section Using the Realm Driver to Configure External Authorization

The open source database is the Apache Derby database I believe
