WebFocus cannot be considered a web service as such; there is a licence for WebFocus Web Services adapter which is an open standard module, still with the power of WebFocus behind it.
It will allow you to publish reports and run transactions from a .NET (and many other) applications. It utilises XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI.
I have not had first hand exerience of it yet, but am hoping my company will purchase it in the near future as it will fulfil a very important role for us in the open application arena.

Once you are licensed for WebFOCUS Web Services, you can use the WSDL publishing tool to generate a WSDL. When you create the WSDL, you can create a function that will allow you to call a specific focexec procedure or you can just use the generic WebFocusRunFex method to run any focexec that is on the application path or EDAPATH.
You can consume the WSDL in Visual Studio.NET whether it is an ASP.NET project or .NET Windows Application.
