Bethany, i'll just add a note that in dialogue manager, when you use functions, the last argument must be the format rather than the fieldname. When you use functions in regular focus (not DM), the last argument can be either a fieldname or the format. That's why you're getting prompted, as reFocusing says. And as Mikel says (nice to see Mikel on the boards again!), the HADD function would only work on dates with a date-time format, different from just a date format, and we're not sure what format your &RDATE is, actually.

Though she already has her answer, I'm pretty sure (and someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that the final value of a dialogue manager function is usually not able to be an amper variable. I had to do a tremendous amount of coding to get around this one time.
I have included (the relevant part of) a snippit of code that works fine for me. The sample shows the function GETTOK used in DM. I suspect that you might have had a quoting issue.
