cfishFocus and Essbase
We are longtime mainframe focus users and have been using essbase for a few years and are finally looking at using WebFocus. Does essbase reporting work ok with WebFocus? Also, can data be "joined" between mainframe derived data and essbase derived?
Thanks!

<Steve Cowell>Focus mixes with pretty much anything. There is an Essbase adapter, have a look at

cfishThanks for the reply. I thought it would be ok but wanted to see if there were any issues.

KerryHi cfish,
The link that Steve referenced to is a very good starting point. FYI, if you have specific questions/problems on how Essbase works with WebFOCUS and any arising issues, the best channel for assistance would be Information Builders' Technical Support Help Desk. Either call at 1-800-736-6130 or access InfoResponse online at
http://techsupport.ibi.com . We will need to know more details about your environment settings to provide further info.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Kerry

S.J. KadishIn response to your question:
"can data be "joined" between mainframe derived data and essbase derived?" - my experience has been that it works better to pull the data, whether from essbase or vsam or whatever, into FOCUS hold files before doing the joins.
Indexing the hold files:
ON TABLE HOLD AS HOLDA FORMAT FOCUS INDEX SOME_JOIN_KEY
facilitates the joins.
