Hello

If i do not have indexed field in two mas files i can not create join between them even the fileld name and datatype is same in both mas file

Please suggest

As Frank says what kind. I've joined a flat file which has no index to a db2 table and it has worked. I've even joined to db2 table elements that weren't indexes and Focus handled it.

The only example I can think of is when one Focus file Joins to another Focus file. The linked-to file must have an indexed join field.

Flat files can be joined-to if the key is in the same sort order as the join-from key. Its more like a merge that keeps moving forwards.

And there is always MATCH FILE.


In FOCUS since 1985. Prod WF 8.0.08 (z90/Suse Linux) DB (Oracle 11g), Self Serv, Report Caster, WebServer Intel/Linux.

MATCH FILE, I try to avoid like plague, but sometimes that's the only way to solve your problem, however, not helpful if you need a one to many relationship IMHO. Roll Eyes
