The issue was due to security settings for excel spreadsheets. In the Trust Center - File Block Settings, Open for Excel95 Workbooks was checked and it should have been unchecked. Our copies of Excel are pushed to us and an update to the files caused the issue.

Has any one expericenced this issue? We are 7.7.03M. Regularily scheduled reports using RC format exl95 are now suddenly coming up in protected view. This only seems to be happening to sporadic groups of users. I checked their security and browser, Windows version and settings and we all match. One problem, I am unable to reproduce the problem unless I change my INTRANET security setting to 'protected mode'. Any ideas?

If can only be reproduced by changing your intranet security to protected mode, is there a possibility that a GPO is effective for some users and not for others ?
Or does users with that issue have their intranet security set to protected by default ?
