Hi All,

Can anybody please suggest me for what purpose we are using variables "&ShTotDmd &ShowPrev &ComOptP" after computation?

I am not getting if they are used to store result of something else? Please suggest...


 

 COMPUTE Tot_DmdDiffP/D7% 	= ((Tot_Dmd - PrevTot_Dmd)/ PrevTot_Dmd) * 100 ; AS '%Tot Dmd Diff' &ShTotDmd    &ShowPrev  &ComOptP

A variable name is of no value whatever except that it identifies a memory location that stores a value.

I would suggest that you read your code and see what values are assigned to those variables.
you never know you might even have some documentation that explains what is expected.

They are probably some fields to show after the computation or flags for how to display the field in the report (NOPRINT, for example).

From the looks of it, &ShTotDmd, &ShowPrev, and &ComOptP looks like additional columns in the report that appear after the computed field that will only show if the variables are populated.

I agree with Wep,

I've seen that method used many times. They are setting those variables to either '', FOC_NONE or NOPRINT. That COMPUTE plays a different role in the report based on the launch senario, and those vars control it's behavior.
