We still have an old Focus system that uses Master File descriptions that specifically list user ID's - for example - USER=A12345 ,ACCESS=RW,$ I am "grasping at straws" trying to determine why a new user cannot read the Master File and I wondered if there were a maximum number of users that can be listed(?). I've searched the Knowledge Base, etc. with this question and so far no luck. (I really don't think this will be the issue but it's another possibility to mark off the list....)

This user is accessing the application by way of a mainframe Focus "online" (green) screen. There is no error message - the application simply does not return any data.

Suggestion: Try that fex, the one that generating the error, from a non-green screen (even if you need to strip it down). Or, better yet, check the access or other log files on the server...

As this is a mainframe application all logs have been searched with no luck and the user can directly browse the dataset without any access errors. However trying the same code that is not returning data in batch instead of "online" could produce useful information - I will try that - thank you!

Usually when UserID's are listed in a master file it is because the DBA security is turned on and it limits the access to that data. You will probably need to add the ID to that master file with similar syntax as to what you have listed in order for that person to get data back.
Thank you for using Focal Point!

Actually the ID involved was added to the Master File a couple of weeks ago and has been rechecked about a dozen times (and counting..). But that gets us to about 200 ID's for that master, hence my question as to what (if any) is the maximum number of users that can be listed...?
