Hi,

My READ statement exceeds line and it's not getting the value of the varible from second line onwards. Below is my code, anybody see anything wrong on it.

Note: I didn't get any error with the below code but it's not giving me the value.

-READ SAVE &JID.I11. &JNAME.A64. &DESC.A50. &TT.A21. &OWNER.A30. &GN.A20. &APPL.A20. &CMDLINE.A512. &UD.A10. &NID.A50.,

It may be because you may have one too many commas in the line.

It should be coded as:

Be sure, that your input record has enough characters to accomodate for all these long fields, or you may run into an error situation because of that.

Thanks Gamp and Francis.

After I tried Gamp suggestion, it worked.

I think the READ line should go to next line if it reaches 80 characters. Otherwise it won't get those values.

You are correct your read line cannot exceed 80 characters.
