I am using -READ to read 16 variables from a one row data file with 16 columns, each size A8.

But I can only get result from the first 5 columns. When I tried to print the 6th variable it says

(FOC295) A VALUE IS MISSING FOR: &F2Q2

I've verified the data in the saved file are correct.

Here is my code:

-READ MY_OUTPUT &F3Q1.A8.,&F3Q2.A8.,&F3Q3.A8.,&F3Q4.A8.,&F2Q1.A8.,&F2Q2.A8.,&F2Q3.A8.,&F2Q4.A8.,&F1Q1.A8.,&F1Q2.A8.,&F1Q3.A8.,&F1Q4.A8.,&F0Q1.A8.,&F0Q2.A8.,&F0Q3.A8.,&F0Q4.A8.;

Is there a limit on the size of one row a -READ command can read?

System: Windows / AIX / Linux
Output: Mostly HTML, with some PDF, Excel and Lotus(!)

Not that I am aware of.

I guess the file you are reading from is comma delimited.

How was it created ?

Have you confirmed that there is enough data to read ?

Well, I just tested this code under 7.7.03 and it was fine.

DEFINE FILE CAR
XX/A8=EDIT(CAR,'99999999');
END
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX XX
ON TABLE SAVE AS MY_OUTPUT
END
-RUN

-READ MY_OUTPUT &F3Q1.A8.,&F3Q2.A8.,&F3Q3.A8.,&F3Q4.A8.,&F2Q1.A8.,&F2Q2.A8.,&F2Q3.A8.,&F2Q4.A8.,&F1Q1.A8.,&F1Q2.A8.,&F1Q3.A8.,&F1Q4.A8.,&F0Q1.A8.,&F0Q2.A8.,&F0Q3.A8.,&F0Q4.A8.

-TYPE &F3Q1 &F3Q2 &F3Q3 &F3Q4 &F2Q1 &F2Q2 &F2Q3 &F2Q4 &F1Q1 &F1Q2 &F1Q3 &F1Q4 &F0Q1 &F0Q2 &F0Q3 &F0Q4

If the problem is the size or complexity of the line of Dialog Manager source code, -READFILE may be the solution.

Why is there a closing semicolon?

Are these variables -DEFAULTed? Try -DEFAULTing them first.

My file is a

SUM...
ACROSS..

output, without the ACROSS values. I have verified the value in the output file are all correct. It just can only read the first 5 values.

If I READ a plain file with regular PRINT output, this is not a problem.

Probably something to do with ACROSS output?

Please post your exact code.

And, I was wondering about the semicolon also, but I have to admit running with the semicolon did not cause a problem.

A curiosity...
