[SOLVED]How to get total on only few columns

Hi,

I have the below piece of code :

Table file abc
print
column1
column2
column3
column4
column5
column6
by column1 noprint
END
-RUN
-EXIT

Now I need to get total on only these columns namely:Column2 thru' Column4.

I tried doing it using Total but it isn't working.

Any hints/thoughts on the same.

Remember that you can specify columns to subtotal, and that the point of subtotal can be a sort field or the complete request (table):
ON [BY field / TABLE] SUBTOTAL column2 column3 column4

Add a dummy sort NOPRINT and SUBTOTAL columns on the dummy sort.

Please let me know how to rename the subtotal to say total...

I tried doing this :

ON COLUMN1 SUBTOTAL AS 'TOTAL' column2 column3 column4 , but it is throwing an error message.

You appear to be missing the point. You can use SUBTOTAL as a TOTAL by stipulating TABLE as the sort break:
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT RCOST DCOST SALES
BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE SUBTOTAL DCOST AS 'Total'
END

Or you can use ON TABLE COLUMN-TOTAL column3 column5 etc.
