[SOLVED] Best physical server specification to host SQL when using WF?
I am getting a new physical server to hold my Data Marts, and I was wondering what other people had which was working well with WF.
I expect my database to be around 1.5 TB , for which I am getting 2 TB of SAN space.

Where I have little to no experience is what should my server look like. I gave IT the spec's for the servers off my last job , but that data warehouse was much larger, and the feedback I got was this machine is a bit elaborate.

I expect an average high useage of 25 concurrent users ( we have 1500 multishift employees and are hosting payroll reporting , so there is some fluctuation in use).

Any help would be great.

I sent out a few notes asking if they could tell me what others are using, but I have not heard back.

Thanks for the comments Waz. I ended up going with
Cisco UCS C240 M3 Rack Server
Dual 2.4GHz E5-2665 CPU (8 cores each)
64GB of RAM (2 of 24 DIMM slots used, max of 384GB RAM)
300GB hard drive

This was the spec used for our current largest database so its what we already use.

Depending on how well organized you data marts are and how much data you are accessing in a single query. On Windows i like to use SQL Server 2008 with a 64 bit OS and throw as much memory you can get on the Server. Something new I'm investigating is the use of RamDISK it there is a lot/big hold files being created on the WebFOCUS Server. RamDISK has benefits but you need to be careful if you fill it up. Another option if your queries take to long to run is Hyperstage. I personally have seen some really good results at one of our customers.

Thanks, Hyperstage is something I am keeping in mind as our system gets larger. Thanks for the note on Memory, I will have 150GB more on the new machine than current so hopefully that help... well along with 2 TB on the SAN
