Basically, here is my problem. This sounds very simple in theory, but I haven't found an easy solution to it. I have 2 tables. Both have an ID field and both have multiple records per ID. TableA has 15000 distinct ID's and TableB has 11000 distinct ID's.

I need to create a report that divides TableB's DST.ID's by TableA's DST.ID's:

11,000/15,000 = .73

The problem is that you can't have a report where you are counting distinct on 2 fields.

I've tried matching on the base tables, matching on the hold files with the count.dst outputs, joins on both tables, and I can't find a way to do this.

Any suggestions?

UNTESTED BUT MIGHT WORK IF ALL YOU WANT IS THE DIVIDED VALUE.

SET ASNAMES = ON
TABLE FILE TABLEA
CNT.DST.ID AS ACOUNT
COMPUTE ABLANK/A1 = ' '
ON TABLE HOLD AS HOLD1
END
TABLE FILE TABLEB
CNT.DST.ID AS BCOUNT
COMPUTE ABLANK/A1 = ' ';
ON TABLE HOLD AS HOLD2
END
JOIN ABLANK IN HOLD1 TO ABLANK IN HOLD2 AS J1
TABLE FILE HOLD1
PRINT
COMPUTE VALUENEED/D6.2 = BCOUNT / ACOUNT;
END

Hey Leah. That works great. Never thought of creating a computed field of nothing. I've done it before with defines, but had trouble.

Also, I am curious if you guys have SCT Banner at UNO? I am at UNCG, and we have it here. And of course we have Webfocus tied into it as well.

We are on Plus2000, but and don't hold me to this comment. We are looking at moving to a new system and it most likely will be Banner. Did you convert to Banner from other SCT version? If so, offline disussion would be good.

We've been on banner since 1998 (when I was a student), and we went from an old mainframe system at that time (not an SCT product).

It's a great system though.
