My company just went to 7.1.3 from 5.3.3. We used to have a &DAYSAGO parameter in our Webfocus programs that was defaulted to zero in ReportCaster. That way, when server issues would cause a schedule to be missed, we could just go into reportcaster and fill in the &DAYSAGO parameter in the Advanced Task Options and rerun it. Now (in 7.1.3) when I go into Advanced Task Options, there is no blank field for me to fill in with a default value for those parameters. Anybody have any suggestions? Is this still correct syntax in Webfocus for the prompt to show up in ReportCaster: -Set &firstdate = 1 + &daysago ; Windows version 768 | ||

Mark, I was able to get this to work. Created a schedule, used the carinst.fex from ibisamp. On the Advanced Task Options -> Parmeters tab, I was able to enter the name of the variable (in my case COUNTRY) without the & and the value for country, and it works. You should be able to type DAYSAGO in the name column, and the value you want in the value column. Kevin WF 7.6.10 / WIN-AIX | |||

I forgot to mention one critical detail. We used to uncheck the "Prompt for Parameters" option in the properties of our fexes because we did not want to be prompted. We wanted the fexes to run automatically. The undefined ampervariables (&DAYSAGO) would still show up in ReportCaster in Advanced Options where we could enter in values. I guess my real question is: If "Prompt for Parameters" is checked, will my fexes still run as scheduled if I have filled in the undefined parameters in the Advanced Options window? FYI - I've tried this with a couple of scheduled jobs and they seem to work fine, but I really just want confirmation from another source. Thanks! Windows version 768 | |||

Mark, If your want reassurance and see the confirmation for yourself, then turn on agent tracing on the Reporting Server and run your caster job twice. Once with no parameters and a second time issuing one or more parameters via the advanced tab on the task editor within caster. What you will see on viewing (after locating  ) the trace is that for the second run a dialogue manager SET command is issued for each parameter that you create.Therefore this is exactly the same as you creating a new fex and entering something like - -SET &variable1 = value; -SET &variable2 = value; -INCLUDE yourprocedure T p.s. don't forget to turn tracing off afterwards
