[CLOSED] Retrieving Windows Login ID from a fex without MRE logon
Hi guys -

I was asked to write a report that retrieves manager information. This report will be on a public dashboard and will not require logon to Managed Reporting. The managers want it so that when they open the report, it will only show the information specific to them. They don't want to have to logon "again" to do so either. They want webfocus to just retrieve their Windows Logon ID to identify them to the system. I heard (not sure) that 7.6.4 has a way to retrieve logon ID. But, we are still on 7.1.3 and may not be on 7.6.4 until a year later. So, is there a way I can retrieve windows user id information on 7.1.3?

Thanks.

Do you mean by "open a report" that the manager is running the specific fex at that moment?

Anatess,

Take a look in the Webfocus Security and administration guide (for 761 and up it's here ). In it you can find several topics on single sign-on, which seems to be what you're looking for.
One major must-have is a webserver that support integrated windows authentication (IWA). If you don't have that - no go.

anatess, i used IWA back in 53 and in 71; see if you can locate the handouts from a summit presentation back in 06 or 07 by Jim Thorstad, ex-ibi security guy. It will tell you w/ screen shots, about REMOTE_USER variable ...
