I used the following simple query to generate a ppt file.
APP HOLD BASEAPP TABLE FILE CAR PRINT COUNTRY ON TABLE HOLD FORMAT PPT END
Then I tried to open it in MS PowerPoint 2010, and it failed with error msg: PowerPoint can't read filepath\filename.ppt.
When I clicked on Show Help button, and it said:
The presentation cannot be opened. Your antivirus program may prevent you from opening the presentation. To fix this problem, make sure your antivirus program is current and working correctly. If the problem persists and the presentation is from someone that you trust, turn off your antivirus program, and then try to open the presentation again. If you do this, make sure you turn on your antivirus program again after you open the presentation.
I know this is just a stupid Microsoft message as I copied the file to a machine with no antivirus program installed, I got same message in MS PowerPoint 2010.
However I can open the ppt file in MS PowerPoint 2003/2007 without any problem even the antivirus program is running.
Any help is appreciated! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,

It seems it is not related to webfocus version and OS. I have XP, Webfocus 7.6.10 and Office 2010 in my desktop, and have Windows 2008R2, Webfocus7.7.03 and Office 2010 in one of my servers and have Windows 2003, WebFOCUS 7.6.10 and Office 2003. As long as Office version is 2010, it has that issue.
If anyone has Office 2010, please try it and let us know if it works for you.

EXCEL issue is different. We tried to resave it to a different version of excel through vbs. I opened a case with IBI almost 3 weeks now, and IBI is still investigating the issue. That issue seems only related to Windows 2008R2.

MY guess is that it is generating the PPT report, but when its being returned to the browser, the issue happens.
As a test, can you check the ibi\WebFOUS7x\temp directory. In there there will be a ppt file, this is where the ppt is stored prior to returning to the browser.
Unless you are using Dev Studio, in which case I think (Unconfirmed) that it will be in the ibi\DevStudio7x\temp directory.
The PowerPoint format radically changed between Office 2007 and Office 2010. There is a technote about a small change in the mime.wfs file on the WF client that will allow Office 2010 PowerPoint to open the legacy PPT format. Go here

Surprise !! Doing ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT PPT and saving the wfservlet as a PPT file allows it to open just fine with Lotus Notes Symphony Presentation ... Wish I could say the same about Excel - there's a workaround for the latter, but it isn't transparent like this one is.
I did some styling - font, size, colour, heading - and they all worked as expected in Symphony.
Did you ever get Webfocus to work on Powerpoint 2010? I tried the suggested solution posted on the link to change the mime.wfs file as well as redirecting the HOLD/SAVE to a .pht extension and MS Office still wouldn't open it. I get the error about this file not being a valid WIN32 application.
