Donaldreportcaster printing
I have a PDF report that needs to auto print based on an event. My options for printing in reportcaster are (wp,doc,ps). I choose ps as my print option and when it prints its three pages of post script detail info. What settings do I need to have my PDF document auto print correctly?

Darin LeeSounds like you are doing it correctly. We use the same procedure and it works great. First thing to check it that the printer is postscript-capable and then that it can auto-sense when a PS stream is sent to it.

Darin LeeWe actually have the output format as an &variable. If it is run normally it uses a default value of PDF. If it is run through RC, we populate the value as PS. In any case, the output format you specify in RC overrides whatever the fex says. For distribution to printers, we use output PS.

DonaldDoes the printer need a postscript driver
installed?

Darin LeeThere is a module (usually hardware) for most printers that enables it to "understand" what to do with a postscript stream. It isn't really a "driver" because that usually refers to software installed on a computer that allows it to interface with specific hardware. Report Caster does not use a printer driver for printing. It's more like a low-level DOS PRINT or LPR command (for lack of a better way of explaining it.) It just sends the file to the destination printer and assumes the printer will know what to do with it.

DonaldShould a (RICOH Aficio 3235C PCL 5c) have such a module?

Darin LeeI looked it up on RICOH's website and it lists Adobe Postscript as an optional feature. If you print a test page from the printer, it may list available features. Otherwise you'll have to look back at the purchase order/receipt to see if that feature was added.

DonaldI have to print the reports on a Printek 4500 series printer. Are there any options in doing so?
