Hello everyone,

I have the following problem:

There is a job scheduled within the ReportCaster that sends out an Excel report (15MB large) to six users. However, the distribution fails and only three users receive the report.

The explanation for the failure is: The distribution failed: IOException while sending message.

After doing some research, I have figured out that the IOException is often related to Java issues. Yet, I do not understand what the specific reason may be. Has anybody else had this issue before?

Do you have access to the Administration Console in WebFOCUS, or know someone who does? In there is a "Diagnostics" section, under which there is a "Traces" folder. In that folder there are ReportCaster log files with detailed error messages. There might be a clue or two in one of those log files that might help you troubleshoot the issue.

What version of WF are you using? Does it happen if you send a very small report to the same distribution list or only when you send the large Excel report?

Also, double check the distribution list and make sure you don't have a typo in any of the email addresses.

Hi clde and welcome to the Focal Point Forums!

An IOException could be caused by a number of things. I know that ReportCaster sometimes throws IOExceptions if there is an issue with a file being read-only or other permissions issues blocking it from running correctly. However there are many other things that could be the cause of it.
Like Squatch suggested, I would look to the logs to see if you can find more detailed information. If you can provide them we will be more able to help you.

Hi Clde,

Sometime back, we had a similar issue receiving files more than 15MB because our mail servers are configured in such a way that throwing out the emails more than 15MB, you may need to contact network team.

Are all the 6 users from the same location and using the same mail servers?
