[SOLVED] An absolute ref to an img on the RS from custom HTML?

Anyone know how I can reference an image that sits in an app folder called images on the Reporting Server side from a custom HTML page that WAS NOT created in AppStudio? Scenario:

.iFrame {
     background-image: url("/approot/images/FW_night.png");
}

My embedded CSS for an iframe element. I want the background of the iframe to be an image. The above URL doesn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

The default location of approot since v8 is /ibi_apps/approot/...

Try that out to see if you have access.

Waz is right. Here's sample CSS code from a project I completed earlier this year:

background:url('/ibi_apps/approot/balanced_scorecard/common/webimages/gradientColHeader.png') no-repeat 0 0;

Thanks Waz,

The following works up till I try to run it from the Content area:

.iFrame {
     background-image: url("http://server.domain.com/approot/images/FW_night.png");
}

Why would it not work under content?

Here's how I access an image in the Content area:

No, the image is on the same server. I don't believe there is any special kind of setup we have here.

Is your Web server (tomcat ?) on a different server that the WebFOCUS server ?

This could explain why you can't access the image.

Could also be the setup of ibi_apps/approot

Squatch,

Thanks for your other updates and code.

This works up till I try running it from the Reporting Server in an app folder, or from within the Content tree:

.iFrame {
     background: #c0c0c0 url("http://server.domain.com/approot/images/FW_night.png") no-repeat fixed center;
}

Waz,

I don't know of any special setup. Should be a normal install. Everything is on the same server.

What happens if you point to [http://server.domain.com]/approot/images/FW_night.png

So trying "http://server.domain.com/approot/images/FW_night.png" in a browser works ?

If it doesn't, what if you try "http://server.domain.com/ibi_apps/approot/images/FW_night.png"

If you don't want to use ibi_apps, then you will have to ad an extra alias into tomcat.

Using that URL w/o the ibi_apps added in does work in a browser and does take me to the image, and it does work as the background image URL outside of IBI product directories and repos. Once I add the ibi_apps in, it doesn't work anymore outside or inside IBI.

Definitely weird.

You must have an alias in Tomcat for approot.

So, for some oddball reason, it won't work due to authentication being needed for anything, and the prompt doesn't pop up from AppStudio. Try running outside of AppStudio, the prompt hits, and the image renders. That or it just works if your browser saved the creds beforehand. So, I referenced the image from elsewhere and it's good now.

Thanks Waz and Squatch for your help and time!
