I 've this request from the user , auto-complete form in Maintain.
In my maintain form , I have STDUENTID , LASTNAME & FIRSTNAME. Forexample,if the STUDENTID is already in the database,if the user enter the STUDENTID in the form,it automatically fill the LASTNAME & FIRSTNAME in the form, it would be easier for the user to fill the form.If it is new person ,that person fill the entire form. I appreciate any one could help me regarding this issue.
I have something similar in the project I'm working on. Let's say the stack that is bound to the fields on the form is called AddStuStk. Write a function like...
REPOSITION stu_table.STU_TABLE.STUDENTID;
STACK CLEAR GetStuStk;
NEXT stu_table.STU_TABLE.STUDENTID INTO GetStuStk WHERE stu_table.STU_TABLE.STUDENTID EQ AddStuStk(1).STUDENTID;
IF GetStuStk.FOCCOUNT GT 0 THEN BEGIN
COMPUTE AddStuStk(1).LASTNAME = GetStuStk(1).LASTNAME;
COMPUTE AddStuStk(1).FIRSTNAME = GetStuStk(1).FIRSTNAME; ENDBEGIN
Just add this function to an onBlur event handler for the STUDENTID field. I'm not sure if this is the most eloquent way of accomplishing this task...but I know it works.
