Does MISSING=ON work when entered in the master file for a comma-delimited source. Based on what I'm seeing, I would say no, but I haven't found anything in the documentation saying that it won't work on fixed or comma-delimited data sources. Can someone point me to some documentation or pass along their experiences. I would like to set MISSING=ON, so I can make use of it in a conditional DEFINE statement. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

This feature used to work in 7.1 but no longer in 7.6 - I have raised a case and IBI are investigating.

Thanks for the info hammo1j. We are using 7.6.1, so it looks like we are victims of this IBI bug too.

When reading a comma delimited file, I don't think it understand the concept of "missing". Seems like it would always have something in it (like a blank_ because it is really just a flat file - no way to show a "missing" value in a flat file.

You may want to read the file and using defines with MISSING ON, create fields that you need to display missing and HOLD FORMAT FOCUS. Then you've got exactly what you need for further processing.

If you had 2 commas abutted ,, you would expect the value to be interpreted as a missing if you had MISSING=ON in the master. At least that's what used to happen AFAIK.

Case is 32602507 and it's "in product division".

I guess this means: "It's a bug and we're fixing it" as opposed to "IBI Researching" which means we are checking whether its a bug or not.

Can anyone confirm these interpretations?

From my time on the Tech Support desk in London, IBI Researching means that it is being dealt with by the Support desk(s) somewhere around the World (due to "follow the sun" support).

Once these goodly folks have either identified the root cause or localised where the problem might reside, they pass it onto the relevant product team. It is at this stage that the "In product division" status is applied. It doesn't mean that "It's a bug and are fixing it" it just means that the Product division is now dealing with it instead of the Tech Support desks.
