The following code has error like COUNTRYA is not the valid column in CAR file. It will throw error. I want to create a log file with the following code execution output. Any idea how to do?
-SET &ECHO=ON
TABLE FILE CAR PRINT COUNTRYA END
Thanks BKThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,
You can filedef an error log and -WRITE the date, time, focexec name, number of report lines returned, the WebFOCUS error number, and other return codes. I suggest putting the error handling code in a separate focexec that you can -INCLUDE where needed. Create a master file to read the log file and you can report from it with TABLE FILE. The messages should be in nice neat columns so it should be relatively easy to create a master to read it. One drawback to using &FOCERRNUM is that it only captures the last WebFOCUS error message. A number of errors produce more than one WF error message (both FOC003 and FOC009 in the example below).
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT COUNTRYA
END
-*
APP FILEDEF ERRLOG DISK error.log (APPEND
-RUN
-WRITE ERRLOG &DATE &TOD &FOCFOCEXEC &LINES &FOCERRNUM &RETCODE
-RUN
Or, if you really want to redirect ALL messages to a file, then you can do this. Again, you might want to create a master file to read the log file so you can use TABLE FILE to report from it. The messages will be in a bit of a jumble so you will probably need to use some parsing functions in conjunction with the master to make sense of it. I used -READ and -TYPE inside a -REPEAT loop below as one possible way to read and display the contents. Use SET EMGSRV=OFF to turn off redirection.
APP FILEDEF EMGFILE DISK emgfile.txt (APPEND
SET EMGSRV=FILE
-RUN
-*
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT COUNTRYA
END
-*
-RUN
-SET &IORETURN = 0 ;
-REPEAT ENDREPEAT1 WHILE &IORETURN EQ 0 ;
-READ EMGFILE, &X1
-TYPE &X1
-ENDREPEAT1
