Why is it when you run the following, you get an extra blank line before the grand total? This is irritating.
TABLE FILE CAR SUM SALES BY COUNTRY BY CAR ON COUNTRY SUBTOTAL ON TABLE SET STYLE * UNITS=IN, PAGESIZE='Letter', LEFTMARGIN=0.000000, RIGHTMARGIN=0.300000, TOPMARGIN=0.000000, BOTTOMMARGIN=0.300000, TOPGAP=0.000000, SQUEEZE=ON, ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE, $ TYPE=REPORT, GRID=OFF, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=9, COLOR='BLACK', BACKCOLOR='NONE', STYLE=NORMAL, $ ENDSTYLE END
I must be missing something obvious.

I *think* FOCUS has always done that - even on the mainframe - but I might be wrong. It's just one of those decisions IBI made when creating that feature. I'm sure there's a much better "internals" answer though.
Its the GRID if you leave GRID ON (the default) you get no blank space. But grid will print hideously black on almost everyone's printers. So we leave grid on and use
<style>
TABLE {border-collapse:collapse}
</STYLE>
(as recommended by Pietro) in the htmlform to display the report. The grid is much gentler. You can then try to get your users to print using the 'print background colors' option on their printers properties, and it looks pretty nice. GRID is inextricably intertwined with so many other things, like WRAP. ps so sorry, ken, the code didnt display, and i failed to check it .This message has been edited. Last edited by: susannah,

that truly is something that reproduces everywhere. Basically, by default there is a spaces line before each SUBTOTAL and AFTER. So, you get the SPACE Last subtotal space following space preceeding grand total grand total You can avoid it, by coding your own ON TABLE SUBTOTAL, but call it in to customer support. They can put in a new feature request so that it doesn't happen in future releases, so you will at least be doing your bit for all of FOCUS community Noreen Redden IBI

This is related to the 2-line subtotal issue - hence my suggestion last summit to provide developers with SET commands to override all these mainframe-type defaults. There are a LOT of SETs which doesn't make sense in the WebFOCUS world, like PA01, PA02 and PF01-PF12 to answer Gerry's reply that there are enough SET commands akready...
