HI,
We have recently migrated the Webfocus server from 716 to 775 and need to use the SFTP function instead of FTP. I tried to conenct to the SFTP server, RC always giving the connection refused error. but through Unix, we will be able to connect. so please advise how to connect to the SFTP and what all settings need to be done to make that work in Webfocus 775?
Appreciate your help.

You should open a case with IBI on this.

I'm using connection to SFTP servers in from RC Distribution Server 7.7.05 without any issues.

You say that you can connect to the SFTP server from Unix but you don't say if that Unix box is the same one where you Distribution Server is installed.

A first step in diagnosing this would be to try and connect to your SFTP server using any SFTP client directly from the box where RC is running to make sure that connections from that machine to the server are not being refused due to firewalls or other security features.

Thanks for the info. We have tested the connenction from the same box that the distribution server is running. Could you please let us know if we need to make any settings in the webfocus configurations to make sftp works? How are you connection from RC to sftp server?

I don't recall having to make any special configuration for it, other than providing the SFTP attributes needed for the Distribution of any schedule in RC.

Please let me know if any specific configuration required for SFTP to work in 7705? Do i need to change any RC configuration settings?

You might want to familiarize yourself with SFTP and SSH. There is key management stuff that is bound to the user id you are using (if your server allows for public key authentication). If those things are in place than you might be ok. Otherwise, make sure the remote SFTP server is configured to public key authentication. Typically, there are 3 ways a SFTP server can be configured. If the remote server requires more than public key authentication, then you might not be able to get this to work.

However, that all being said, it's been over 2 years since I've worked with SSH, so there might be some other things added since then.
