I have 6 lists that I need to chain together. The user wants to select from any of these list to start thier process (created by a fex). Once they select one/multiple from a list they then want to select other rows/items from the other lists that have been redueced by prior selections.

Has any one done this? If so, can I see an example?

The standard chaining functionality does not provide a way to do this. Either a drop down list is populated by selection from a previous control, or it is populated statically or dynamically from it's own fex. It can't start being populated with some data and then switching over to a chained drop-down. I'm sure there is a way to do provide this functionality yourself using onChange events in Javascript, just not with the standard functionality Wf provides. Chaining is top-down, not start where you want.

I believe I recall from Summit, David Glick stating that chaining is bi-directional. I don't know when bi-directional chaining was introduced but I recall the questing being asked and answered.

In the new parameters tab inside html composer you can change the chain to bi-directional. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are trying to do but I think it may help.

There are two possibilities I can think of:
1. You define a sort of hierarchy, so that if the user clicks on one of the listboxes, some predefined others are changed.
2. No hierarchy which would mean that whenever one listbox is chosen it affects all the others independently.

Using our product WrapApp, I just did an example of (2) on the CAR file with 3 listboxes containing COUNTRY, CAR, BODYTYPE.

Initially all the boxes are filled with the values from the database. Then when the user selects values from any one listbox, the two others are affected.

Is this something that could suit you?

Daniel - (2) is what I am looking for. This department is using WF 7.6.7 and will not be moving to 7.6.9 for about a year.
