Here is my requirement: Schedule a job to run at midnight, the job has to read a database value, let’s say a column name is PRE_STATUS in a table, If PRE_STATUS=COMPLETED then the job has to execute several procedures to create text and xml files which will have several reports. If PRE_STATUS<>COMPLETED, then keep looking for the value until it gets COMPLETED for two hours. If it did not find a status as COMPLETED within 2 hours then send an alert to users so that users will do some research on why the PRE_STATUS is not COMPLETED yet. The PRE_STATUS is set by another batch application from outside of my application.
Basically ReportCaster job should keep polling for a particular value from DataBase or FileSystem and report to users if value is not found within specified time or kick other jobs if value is found.
How to achieve this solution in ReportCaster? Anyone has done this before or knows about how to do it? Appreciate your help.

Look up for PRE completion and post completion jobs in report caster schedules. You can do this in several ways depending on the complexity of the requirement. You can use the RC functions like DSTRUN to kickoff the schedules when the value in the database is set to complete or as I said the pre completion fex should be simple.

Thanks Sashanka. Could you please tell me or point out the documentation for how to configure PRE and POST completion jobs in report caster schedules. I am new to ReportCaster.
