I have a fex thst uses the WRAP command on a column. Sometimes it runs and sometimes it fails in error...no cosistency. I tried writing my data to a hold file then reporting that with the WRAP command...same thing.

I saw a forum thread insinuating that the wrap has issues if the field is too long. I tried truncating it to 25 characters then doing the wrap....same issue.

I tried making the output HTML...same issue.

Either the report runs ok or fails with the error below. Our IS team says they have seen this error before with report formatting but they can offer no further advise.

Unknown error occurred. Agent on reporting server EDASERVE may have crashed or request was halted by the operator. Please investigate reporting server log.

Before I open an incident...does anyone have any suggestions?

Here is the code. Note the WRAP for column 9. If I remove this code, the report runs fine (sans the wrapping) EVERY time. If left as is, it runs 20% of the time.

AFAIK, what you're doing is correct. It's just that the agents in 7.6 aren't particularly robust.

If you open a case with IBI, they'll probably tell you that they fixed this in 7.7 (which I can confirm) and that they will not backport this to 7.6. ISTR that's what they told us.

Yet, even in 7.7 there are cases where wrapping or wide output crashes agents with the PDF output format. Or wide output will wrap to the same page and overwrite stuff from the left-hand side of the page.

BTW, which version of 7.6 are we talking about here? There have been major changes along the 7.6 branch around 7.6.10.

Just a thought about the intermittent nature of the failures --

Do you have clustered WF servers? If so, I would test each back-end server separately. There might be some difference in configuration that causes them to behave differently.
