[CLOSED] Report Caster Saved procedure ont windows explorer
I am trying to set up a procedure in report caster that will run the fex file and drop the results (which are in Excel format) onto my Desktop or anywhere else on my computer.
How would I go about doing that in Report CasterThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,

Assuming that report caster is running on a server somewhere, then your only hope would be for the server to write the output to a network location.
There have been other questions similar to this do a search for say save report pc or save output local drive.

Thanks for your reply. I do have one more question in regards to the library and storing reports there. Does the report sent to the library get saved on a speicfic drive/location or is it only saved on a web application.
What I am trying to do is run the report then have an internal SFTP server grab the results and send them off.
If you know of any smarter methods of doing this by all means please let me know.

I haven't worked with report caster for quite a while. Report library has also changed over the years, perhaps someone else in the forum would be able to answer the question.

Report Library reports get stored in a relational data base repository as BLOBs.
Also, you can do an ftp from Report Caster. This is well documented in the RC Admin manual.
Its not generating an error it's just not sending the results over. It's not the connection between the SFTP server and RC either because when I just created a blank document on my drive and used RC to send it over everything went smoothly.
I think RC doesn't have the ability to run a procedure and take those results and SFTP them to the server designed.

RC does not use secure FTP. That would be a great new feature request if you care to open a case for it. As we frequently deal with a claimant personal and health information, we are restricted to secure transfers for that type of info. RC will only use the standard FTP client as installed on the server. If you were somehow able to fool the server into using sftp when it thought it was using ftp, you might have something.
Probably your only option would be to hold the file to a specified location and then run a post-execution procedure as described in the manuals. This procedure would be a .fex, but could either execute a batch file containing a non-interactive sftp script or it could just contain the script itself (a fex does not necessarily have to contain focus code.)

I was just going through the SNF for 7.6.9 and it talked about now being able to retrieve the public key necessary for SFTP so I assumed that it must have been added as a feature in a previous release (we're still on 7.1.6 but in the process of moving to 7.6.9 as I speak (well-type)). Thanks for setting me straight.
