I have a strange problem when I created a report in EXL2K. I have a column with the output in the following format.

12-34-56-7899

The report runs fine and looks fine in excel but when I print the report out the number is changed and all you get is the following

7899

It actually cuts off the first nine digits. I have already used a define and set it to A13. I also tried the following

CaseNumber/A14='"' || AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number || '"';
firsttwo/A2=EDIT(AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number,'99$$$$$$$$$$$');
secondTwo/A2=EDIT(AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number,'$$$99$$$$$$$$');
thirdTwo/A2=EDIT(AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number,'$$$$$$99$$$$$');
Quartet/A4=EDIT(AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number,'$$$$$$$$$9999');
dash/A3='-';
glue/A35= first two || dash || secondTwo || dash || thirdTwo || dash || Quartet;

The only way I can get the report to print out correctly is to highlight the fields in excell and change the format to text. I can't even just select the whole column because the report header is a merged field. This is not an option with our users we would get constant complaints. Is there anyway to define what format excell puts your data in?

BTW I already tried putting the number in parantesis and I got this

Once the file is opened in Excel, any problems you are having with a file are Excel related, not WebFOCUS related.

Try simplifying the transformation of the field:

DEFINE FILE CAR
AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number/A10 WITH COUNTRY = '1234567899';
END

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
COMPUTE AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number_OUT/A15 = EDIT(AACLAIMSET.AACLAIMS.case_number,'99-99-99-9999');
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
END
