Is there a command or function that I can use to retrieve a record? I looked at DB_LOOKUP but it only returns a field from a file. What I need is to return the whole record from a file.

It is difficult to answer your question without knowing what you want to do with a record. Could you be seeking a JOIN? MATCH will also do what you want.
