Cool that's out of my control. I will tell you this much. The application my team supports has over 90 fixed reports, which were developed using Crystal Report Boxi. We are looking into moving to another reporting tool. The two that we were told to look into were Webfocus and Jasper reports. I am 100 percent certain we will not be using this product. Some of or reports are simple and some complex. Just trying to do a simple report takes days to do. Cant image trying to tackle a complex one....
I'd say more, but I probably shouldn't. Haven't heard someone talking about Jasper since college. Hopefully, whatever your team chooses, it works well for you! Best of luck!

You can probably create most of your reports within the standard report painter tool along with stylesheets and possibly some general coding knowledge.
This forum is a great resource for asking questions and for the most part members like to get involved with your development questions.
There might be a bit of a learning curve for complex reports upfront but once you have gained that knowledge and experience most reports can be developed quickly.
Take some education courses, there are many online training sessions that IBI has that can be found at - Education - Your Key to Success
For the precision report question - click on the 'Window' in the Dev Studio tool bar - select Options - click on the Reporting tab - verify what the value is in the Default Report Template - for the default report painter - table1.ftp or table2.ftp - for precision reports - pixper.ftp
If the pixper.ftm is set as the option then all reports will start in precision mode. Change the value to table1.ftp. The reports will start in regular report mode, then select the precision report icon if you want to continue with precision report. Once you select the icon you can not convert back.
Hope that helps.
