Query on Line Graph

Hi All,

I have a requirement where I need to plot soe points in a line graph. However if there is no value corrsponding to a particular X-Axis entry (or if the entry value is 0), then I do not want the Line Grpah to dip down to Zero, and then come up again. I want the next available point to be joined directly.

For example if I have the following data:

2003 65
2004 37
2005
2006 23
2007 34

and I am plotting the values by Year, then I do not want the graph to dip down to 0 for the year 2005. Instead I want the points for 2004 and 2006 to be connected directly.

Can anyone please help me with this?

Thanks,
Ved

If you have your source in a database you can say something like this

TABLE FILE DATASET
SUM SALES
BY YEAR
WHERE TOTAL SALES NE 0
ON TABLE HOLD
END
GRAPH FILE HOLD
SUM SALES
ACROSS YEAR
....
.

Does this answer the question?

No...In that case, the '2005' would not come up at all on my X-Axis. I want to show all the entries in X-Axis, however in such a siruation (as described above), I want the line to join 37 and 23 directly

Frank,

That is not good: a year without sales will not appear.
One used to use GMISSING and GMISSVAL but that doesn't work any more.
Maybe something in the GRAPHSTYLE parameters?

Ved,

For previous to 7.6, look up the SET VZERO setting.

76 and above:

Ved,

You can also add:
setNumMissingDataSegments(25);
to make the line almost continuous.

I gather that you are east of where I am! A question: do you develop Self-Service Applications?
