Is there a way to display the items in a custom order in the Resource Tree? What I see is that the items are displayed alphabetically. Furthermore, the folders are displayed prior to the reports. Thank you in advance. This message has been edited. Last edited by: <Kathryn Henning>,
In BIP, if you look at the properties on the resource - either folder / report / graph etc, you will see an option for Sort Order. (I can't see that this sort-order transfers through to App Studio though).
I'm not sure of the permitted value range but know you can use negative numbers as well as positive. E.g. the "My Content" folder is -300.
Yes, folders and folder items can be sorted under the Content node of the Resource Tree. Simply right-click the folder or item and set its Sort Order property. The sort value can be a negative or positive integer or can be left blank. Folders always sort before folder items, however. Look at the sort order property of a My Content folder within a Domain or the Common domain when using the SaaS Tenant domain templates to see examples of how this is used in the product.
Thank you for the valuable input. Is there a way to display the reports first and folders after the reports? The Tree I am working has sub folder and few reports inside a folder. I am trying to display the reports first and sub folders after.
I can't see a way to bring the reports to the top of the list. Like Thor stated, "Folders always sort before folder items".
Do the users need access to the subfolders? if the reason for moving them to the bottom is to put them out of the way, you could always deny list access to the sub-folder.
@Brian Baird - Thank you for your response. The users need access to both folders and the files. You are correct that normally the folders always show up first. But the standard applies to the operating system. However, the tree is meant for launching reports. In my opinion, the order of the items in the tree should be customized whichever way user wants.
