do we need to have ReportCaster/Distribution Server installed inorder to add a Group?i was able to add users(without selecting those options pertaining to ReportCaster environment i.e Report Library, Schedule etc.). We only have Dashboard, how we gonna managed the Group?by default it has 1)default Group 2) Public.

You don't need Report Caster for BID group views. What you do need is to create a Managed Reporting group in MRE first. BID group views use MRE groups. If you have a problem creating MRE groups, then this is a different issue.
Hi WFUser, thanks for the reply. anyway i tried creating a New Group in the User Administration Interface, and am still getting the error: Unable to communicate with ReportCaster to maintain Group or User information. Please check that ReportCaster is configured and the ReportCaster Distribution Server is started.
I was able to create a new User/Domain but not Group.
Any idea?

Report Caster is not required to use group BUT if Report Caster is installed, it must be configured and running in order to create MRE groups or users. MRE must sync users and groups with the Report Caster repository. If Report Caster is configured, then make sure it's started. If it is, then there is some other issue with Report Caster. If it's installed but you don't plan on using it, call IBI support and find out how to disable it. There are 2 or 3 config files that flag the WebFOCUS Client for Report Caster.
...just an FYI: Here are the flags that need to be set if Report Caster is installed and not being used:
Directory: ibi\Webfocus52\ibi_html\workbnch
File: mrAdminFlags.js
Set the following flags to FALSE: var WFInstallOption_ReportBrokerFlag =false; var WFInstallOption_ReportLibraryFlag =false; var WFInstallOption_TellmeAdminFlag =false;
