[TIP] 7.7.2 Templates are lacking in functionality
For those who have or just upgraded to WebFOCUS 7.7.2, I want to caution you on using an HTML template when creating a new HTML file in the HTML editor. It does allow one to create a new HTML file with well defined css defined form elements, but does not allow much else in the way of customization. I created a set of reports using the template selector, and was happy with the results. Dropdown lists (or whatever other html controls I wanted) were automatically generated by the HTML editor based on Parameters in the fex file I attached. The run and refresh buttons are also included in every template.
HOWEVER, when I went back later on to add a scheduling button, I found that, when the template is in use, it is impossible to add controls. The "Insert" toolbar didn't have the necessary options for adding controls and the controls in the toolset were innactive. Meanwhile, the setting in "Form Settings" even had the "Add schedule button" checkbox checked by default, but still there was no schedule button on the form. I even tried adding the control manually into the HTMLThis message has been edited. Last edited by: jjeanjaquet,

Although annoying...
It is by-design as mentioned in the release-notes.
It's meant to be a "turn-key" solution with no additional work to do.
So if your underlying .fex changes ( i.e. new parameter ), just delete the html and make a new one. When using a template it's just a few seconds work.
If you don't like it, you can always choose 'cancel' and do it the old-fashioned way.

Dave is exactly right. The templates are meant to be for the user who does not want to do customization. The user creates their reports with the parameters and creates a page with a template and that's it. No customization required. So, you have found that it does exactly what was intended. Also, at the bottom of the Template Selector, is message text that explains this as well.
