Passing checkbox value from HTML form to .fex...

I'm trying to pass a value from an HTML form I created for my report .fex with the html layout tool. I've set one of the variables to have an input of a checkbox.

What is passed to my .fex when the checkbox is checked/not checked? When I put my amper variable into the report to see the value, it just returns a

I think if a check-box is unchecked, nothing is passed via the CGI or servlet. If it is checked, the value assigned is passed.

<input type="checkbox" name="REP_STAT_IND" VALUE='I' maxLength=1>
