I am working in a new installion of WebFOCUS and cannot recall steps to get excel report to open a new window and display there.

At present, the windows firewall blocks the window from popping up...

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

It s not a firewall I dont think... This has to be done by each user - unless you know a way of setting the group profiles.

To see if you need to make changes, run a report that outputs Excel. If you are prompted about whether you wish to Save or Open the excel application, then you need to make the following change.

Right click the Windows 'Start' button. Choose the option to Explore.
In the top Menu Bar click on 'Tools' and scroll on the dropdown to 'Folder Options...'.
Choose the 'File Type' Tab. Wait for the torch as it comes up with a list of valid filetypes.
Scroll down the alphabetical list of extensions until you come to the .xls type identified by the familiar Excel logo
With the cursor highlighted on this, click the Advanced button.
There will be 3 tick boxes at the bottom of the window that opens. Ensure the following applies.
Untick 'Confirm Open after Download'
Untick 'Always show extension'
Tick 'Browse in same window'
Now click Ok to save your changes and close the Folders Options Window.
