We have the following requirement to be done in WebFOCUS 8.004 & BIP environment. We are aware this can be accomplished using the user, user groups and resource tree available in the BI portal. But business does'nt like the concept of the Tree view that show what all reports are accessible for the user.
In the below scenario Report denotes an HTML page where user can select his parameters and can either run or schedule his report. And it will be a list of hyperlinks each for one report, and can be clicked to load the HTML page in another frame.
a)Report A to be available to users 1, 2 and 3 b)Report B to be available to users 2, 4, 7 and 8 b)Report C to be available to users 10 alone
How to do this in a customized way? Any insights would be helpful.

We did this by utilizing the BIP - Creating a folder for each group of users (we didn't want to go to the report level permissions inside one folder) and then putting the reports in the portal on different Pages/tabs - each Page has the permissions necessary for the group that is allowed to see it and if they don't have permissions, they do not even see the page listed. We started this with 8.002 and it works the same in 8.007.

I also have clients that wanted the report permissions to be in a table/file that is controled by an individual in the department. The table/file had the user ID and the report and in some cases it had an end date.
Then when you are creating the list you use this table.

How do you create a folder for each user where some of the same reports are in more than one folder, without duplicating the reports?
a)Reports A and B to be available to users 1, 2 and 3 b)Reports B and C to be available to users 4, 7 and 8 b)Reports C and A to be available to users 5, 6 and 9
