From our technicals: please open a new feature request via Customer Support Services.
It’s been stated a few times in the original link that HTML Composer does not provide any validation routines, and as such, we would not document nor support such a routine.
To open a case and submit a new feature request (NFR), please call at 1-800-736-6130, or access online at InfoResponse.

Then why would Bob Ferrante reference "ibi_html/javaassist/ibi/html/js/ibivalidate.js"?

I think the only validation that the tool supports is that related to "Selection Required" parameters.
When you have a control that has been set as required in composer, if you attempt to submit the form without providing a value for the control the form submission is automatically cancelled and a red box is drawn surrounding the offending field(s).
Bob Ferrante was involved with Maintain at one time and Maintain's validation options from within the MDE Painter use ibiValidate.js. Bob is now involved with PMF, and I have no idea if this JS file plays any part in that product offering. This JS file was not coded for use with any other product component. HTML Composer does not have any built-in validation routines currently, however there is a project to create some in the near future.
