Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a way of converting the following date:

20080819

to:

19 AUG 2008

from within WebFocus. I've had a look at the formatting options in the docs, but can't see a way of achieving this.

Thanks

Micheal

Micheal,
There are many ways to do this. Is your date in a field or in a variable?

Hello,

The date is in a a variable i.e.

-SET &date1 = 20080818

Ideally I want to be able to do:

-SET &date1 = formatTheDateFunction(20080818) etc...

so that &date1 then becomes 18 AUG 2008

The syntax in the docs looks weird. I can't see how to use field1/format = field2; and dump the result to a variable.

Michael,

Firstly please update your signature as per the "Friendly Reminders" link on the front page of this forum. This helps us better help you by knowing what release etc. that you are on. Some things change between releases.

Secondly, have you had any training at all? If not then I would suggest that it would help you in the long run, especially in understanding the difference between the two types of code that you can utilise to produce your end result (dialogue manager and FOCUS).

Finally, check out the function CHGDAT for legacy dates. You would have found it by following Nubi's suggestion above. There is also the "Search the Tech Doc. Library" link top right of each forum page.
