[Workaround][NFR Submitted] Insert my own swf file into an HTML page on MRE
Hey there,

I have a swf file that I'd like to put in an HTML launch page that is run from within the MRE environment.

My first attempt went as follows...
Put the swf file in the OTHER folder for the domain in question
Create an iframe on the launch page and try to open the swf file directly in the frame
- No luck

My second attempt went as follows...
Add an html file with all the code in it to embed the swf file in the OTHER folder of the domain. html file and swf file are both in the same path and the source in the html file looks like
 src="my.swf"

Create an iframe on the launch page and open the html file in the frame
- Launch page opens and sits on the 'Loading, please wait' message indefinitely

My third attempt went as follows...
Move the swf file to an Application Directory
Modify the html page that has the code to embed the swf file so the source looks like
 src="https://HOSTNAME/approot/APPDIRECTORY/my.swf"

Create an iframe on the launch page and open the html file in the frame
- This works!

I would really rather keep the swf file inside the MRE environment. Is there a way to get this to work without the need to put the file in an APP Directory?

Thanks!

Dan

Dan, the documentation (WebFOCUS Online Help > Managed Reporting Developer > Working With Domains and Standard Reports > Importing Procedures and Other Files Into WebFOCUS) specifies only .fex, .gif, .sty, .htm can be imported into MRE.

That's my understanding as well. MRE is limited to specific types of files. Pointing it to an application directory or webserver resource, as you have done, is probably the only way around it.

You would think that since you can create a swf files and flex reports, it would be able to use a swf file as well. Sounds like a new feature request to me.

Darin

The conversation in this thread got me thinking and I did come up with a way to call the .swf file from the OTHER folder inside the MRE Domain. The URL looks like...

h...s://hostname.com/ibi_apps/Controller?WORP_REQUEST_TYPE=WORP_LAUNCH_CGI&IBIMR_action=MR_RUN_FEX&IBIMR_domain=domain01/domain01.htm&IBIMR_fex=app/myFlash.swf&IBIMR_flags=none%2CisFex%3Dfalse%2CrunPowerPoint%3Dfalse&IBIMR_sub_action=MR_OTHER_SECTION&WORP_MRU=true&&WORP_MPV=az_gbv&

I like this method because now I can keep all the assets inside the domain rather than keeping some in the Application Directories.
