Hi All,

1. Is there any limitation of adding number of define and compute field in master file ?

2. Is any limitation of no of columns in master file

1. I've never run into either limitation and couldn't find one in doc. How many DEFINEs are you planning to have?

2. Never run into one.

1. am having more than 1000 defines and computes

2. currently total i have 3000 columns in a master file, without any define and compute

I'd open a case with IB Tech Support and let them give you the official answer to this. That's a lot of virtual fields to keep track of. Please let everybody know what they say. I'd be very interested.

As from a DBMS stand point of view, are you sure that this master structure is the best you can have ?
Can it be moved to normalized tables in a DBMS to avoid that many columns/defines/computes ?

Seems a pretty large master file that I wouldn't want to work with.
